In 2010 I took part in the UK portion of an international competition. The competition covered all number of categories, from hair dressing to brick laying etc. Obviously, I took part in the graphic design category.
The brief was to design three deliverables, which must include a billboard and press advert, with the third being your own choice. I began by researching Epson products and found that they had four categories, printers, projectors, scanners and storage devices. I therefore resolved to create a four piece, high impact campaign, that utilises large format prints, to compliment the billboard advert. Therefore my two additional designs were a bus t-side and a bus-shelter advert.
Each designs uses a different element (earth, fire, water and wind) to represent the four product categories. Earth was storage becuase rocks store thousands of years of history in them. Fire was projectors, because of the light given off by fire. Water represents the ink used in printers and finally wind represents the movement of a scanner.
My designs were marked highly and I was one of the top ten in the UK. This is one of my proudest moments, as I fought off competition from hundreds of other young designers from across the country.
